Our 'Help a Child to Read' scheme aims to assist in combating the huge impact the Coronavirus is having on the attainment gap in education.

Work has been going on for years to help close the attainment gap, but with the current pandemic we risk all this hard work being undone. We want to do our bit to help. That's why we're committing that 10% of every Sammy Sounds (online) course booking will be donated to our mission of closing the gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

We will be supporting the children who need it most through a variety of methods, whether that be teaming up with charities or reaching vulnerable children through schools.

Research from the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) found that since lockdown, a third of pupils are not engaged with lessons, and pupils in the most disadvantaged schools were the least likely to be engaged with remote learning. Signalling a potentially generation-defining divide in education among children. Actions to help close the gap have therefore never been more vital.

If you are or if you know a charity that might benefit from this scheme get in touch here.

We also wanted to say a very big thank you to all our Sammy Sounds subscribers, your money is making a huge difference to children's lives. We'll keep you updated on how the scheme is going and the impact it is having on children across the country.
